Calling All Children!
The playgrounds are open!
Dear Ardmore Neighbors:
My sincerest THANKS to all of you who showed up last weekend to help install the playground equipment at Miller & Lockland Parks! The support from our wonderful Ardmore neighborhood was amazing and heart-warming! In addition to those of you who helped with the installation, we appreciate EVERYONE who has contributed your time or money over the past two years to this great community-building event. From its inception with the Silent Auction in September of 2004 until today, we could not have done it without YOUR SUPPORT!
Many parents of little people voiced their pleasure with the Tot Tree addition to Miller Park. Toddlers were climbing all over it last Saturday! However, some of you had concerns about installing the Tot Tree directly to the concrete slab. Therefore, we are looking into providing rubber matting under this piece of equipment at the cost of approximately $2,500. Until safe surfacing can be provided for the Tot Tree, we have removed this piece of equipment and put it in storage. Do not be alarmed if you notice that is has been removed from Miller Park. We will reinstall it as soon as possible!
Including the Tot Tree surfacing mentioned above, we incurred other unexpected costs during the installation. The Winston-Salem Foundation is still taking tax-deductible donations for this project. If you would still like to give, please send a check to The Winston-Salem Foundation, 860 West Fifth Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101-2506. Make the check payable to the WSF and note “The Playground Project” at the bottom of the check.
Again, THANKS A BUNCH for your support!
I am thrilled to be part of such a great neighborhood that so obviously loves its children and its parks!
