In August 2004, the Ardmore Historic District became the largest historic district in Winston-Salem, when approximately 2000 of Ardmore’s properties were officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hundreds of volunteers worked over a period of several years to achieve this goal, building social capital and community pride along the way. Historic markers have been installed throughout the district to identify the area.
