Minutes for Ardmore Neighborhood Association Meeting, December 12, 2006
Board members attending were Patti Heath, Phyllis Newman, Tom Dalrymple, Pauline Leggatt, Stan Nutter, Sara Nutter
Absent: Bonnie King, Sandy Fischer, Scott Breining, Brenda Breining
Guests present: City Councilmember Dan Besse, Hugh Howards, Julie Magness, Page Laughlin. Stan Polanis and Lakesha Dunbar from City of Winston-Salem Department of Transportation (DOT).
Call to order: 7:40 PM. Quorum was met.
ITEMS OF DISCUSSION:
1. Dan Besse and Lakesha Dunbar presented background information on the comprehensive bike travel-way approved by the City Council in September, 2006. They were present to discuss the Hawthorne Road bike lanes and the impact on Ardmore residents. Ms. Dunbar reviewed the feasibility study and fielded questions from board members and Ardmore residents. She acknowledged ANA concerns for eliminating on-street parking between Miller and Academy Streets. She also delivered a written response to the letter sent to the DOT by the ANA. There was much discussion about the effect of the bike lanes as proposed. The primary concern expressed by residents and ANA board involves potential loss of street parking for affected residents.
2. Minutes from November 2006 were approved.
3. Treasurer’s report: $2,782.93 as of 11/30/06.
4. There are currently 145 paid memberships.
5. Need for a plan to distribute “Ardmore: A Neighborhood for Life” stickers was discussed. No resolution.
6. There are two open board positions for Vice President and Secretary. Tom Dalrymple was approved to serve as Vice President. The position of secretary is stilled unfilled.
7. Sandy Fisher was approved as Zoning Committee Chair.
8. The holiday newsletter has been mailed.
9. Copies of crime reports were circulated.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Question and answer session with WFUBMC and Ardmore residents will be held January 16, 2007 at Temple Emanuel, at 7:00 PM. The board approved printing flyers to distribute to those residents most immediately impacted by the Queen St. changes. Page Laughlin and Sara Nutter agreed to distribute flyers.
2. Patti Heath will represent the ANA board at the Winston Salem Neighborhood Association (WSNA) meeting, Wednesday, December 13, 2006.
3. Pauline Leggett, Stan and Sara Nutter will attend the CHANGE meeting considering the new baseball stadium, Wednesday, December 13, 2006.
