Ardmore Neighborhood Association Meeting

May 12, 2009

In attendance: Dianne Blancato, Lonnie Clark, Reggie Delahenty, Catherine Eades, Phyllis Newman, Ann Winters

Call to Order at 7:00 p.m.

Low Maintenance Gardening: NC Cooperative Extension Agent Craig Mauney gave an informative presentation about low maintenance gardening. His tips included preparing plants for dry weather by spreading mulch; planting annuals, which are low maintenance, instead of high-maintenance perennials; and adding two inches of organic matter to beds before planting. He also encouraged the use of rain gardens as a way to help clean up storm water. Forsyth County is offering subsidies to homeowners who install a rain garden. Information may be obtained from Wendy Hartup in the Extension Office at 703-2850.

July 4th Picnic: Discussion was held about the lack of volunteers who had committed to participate in planning/executing the July 4th picnic. Lonnie Clark moved to cancel the picnic. The motion was seconded by Ann Winters. Motion passed.

Website: The possibility of switching to a new web hosting service was raised. Board members were asked to explore the use of Yahoo as an alternative, and to review Washington Park’s website, which contains items for sale.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
