Ardmore Neighborhood Association Meeting
January 12, 2010
In attendance: Dianne Blancato, Lonnie Clark, Tom Dalrymple, Catherine Eades, Sarah Hahn, Pauline Leggatt, Tiffany White, Ann Winters
Call to Order at 7:10 p.m.
Minutes: Minutes for the December meeting were approved as amended.
Membership: There are 68 current members. Member lists from 2007, 2008 and 2009 will be distributed to board members for review and updating. The list will then be divided among board members to conduct a telephone campaign for membership renewals.
Ann will distribute membership information to Gales and Brantley residents.
Follow-up Goal Setting: The first planning meeting for the Historic Ardmore Home Tour will be held January 31.
Tiffany contacted Karen Huey at WFUBMC to introduce herself. The Historic Home Highlight will begin in February and include a church and a commercial building. She has drafted a Welcome Wagon letter that will be e-mailed to board members for approval, and plans to have the first batch of letters in the mail by the end of January.
Sarah has a list of 19 places of worship and will begin contacting them on behalf of ANA.
Paul Fox attended a Neighborhood Watch meeting at the WSPD headquarters and met with officer C.E. McCoy regarding starting a watch program for his area. They will be meeting again to go over the first steps for starting a program.
New Business: The State is having a meeting regarding the closing of Business 40/traffic rerouting on January 28 at 6 p.m.
2010 Meeting Plans: The board came up with the following tentative schedule of topics for its 2010 meetings:
March – Gardening; plan to ask Craig Mauney to speak about vegetable gardens/edible landscaping.
May – Historic Preservation Month
July – Neighborhood Watch/Police
September – Legislative Session/Meet the Candidates
October – Annual Meeting/Centennial; History Book Celebration
Fall – Historic Homes Tour
