Please Attend the City Council Meeting (10/5/2009)

Please help Ardmore support the Southwest Area Plan Monday night, October 5th at 7:30 PM. in the Council Chamber, Room 230, City Hall, 101 N. Main Street, Winston-Salem, NC, 27101. Neighborhood Residents and the ANA board helped to craft the plan. The planning staff has done an excellent job of producing a plan that allows our neighborhood to meet the needs of the 21st century while respecting and protecting our historic character. It would benefit the neighborhood if at least 30 people could attend the meeting and stand when we ask that pedestrian safety and connectivity be funded.

Ardmore Area Plan Public Hearing July 9th

Ardmore and Hanes Town Area Plan Public Hearing July 9th

The Planning Board Public Hearing on the SWAP (South West Area Plan which includes Ardmore) is scheduled for July 9, 2009 starting at or after 4.00 p.m. The regular meeting starts at 2:00 p.m. with a number of zoning hearings, but they will stop around 4:00 for the SWAP hearing

The Winston Salem Planning Department, The ANA, Lockland Park Neighborhood Association, Knollwood residents, WFUBMC and area businessmen have all had representatives on the citizens advisory committee for the SWAP. We have all worked diligently to achieve a plan which will preserve Ardmore’s character and charm while providing for the needs of all stakeholders in the next 15 years.

The input we received at the ANA meetings on the SWAP and in e-mails have been invaluable. We hope many of you had the time to read the plan online after the last notice we sent out. At that time we had few additional comments. We hope this means all the ANA members are happy with the plan! However, if anyone has further comments or concerns please respond to this e-mail. We would like to address any concerns before the 9th if at all possible.

Thank you and we hope you had a Happy Independence Day,

Sincerely,

Lonnie Clark

ANA President

Visioning Meeting Results for Southwest Area Plan (SWAP) 10/9/2008

On Thu, Oct 9, 2008 at 5:46 PM, Robin Bass wrote:

Dear Southwest Area Plan Participants,
The Community Vision Meeting on September 30, 2008 had a good turn out of citizens from the community. This was a good meeting that produced good ideas and goals for your community and what you want your community to look like in the future.

Marco has combined the “SWAP Vision Results” information that was gathered from the four groups and typed it in document form for your review. (See attached word document below). This information will be used in defining the vision (goals) for the different elements of the plan.

We thank all of you for your participation and interest in the Southwest Area Plan process and look forward to working with you during this process.

Sincerely,
Robin Bass

Please Participate in Ardmore Area Plan

Please spread the word!

We encourage all Ardmore Neighbors to come to the City Sponsored Area Plan Meeting

Tuesday, September 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Miller Park Recreation Center.

The area plan is extremely important as it guides all planning and zoning decisions for city departments for the next twenty years. We have a wonderfully charming and convenient neighborhood. Residents working with our business and institutional neighbors can keep it that way and even make improvements to a great place.

Questions that will be considered include:

* How can we make traffic safer?
* Are there lighting additions etc. that will keep Ardmore one of the safest neighborhoods in WS?
* It is currently zoned that a business with a liquor license can be near the school bus stop at Academy/Peter’s Creek. Can we improve upon that?
* Will the few large tracks of land in Ardmore remain residential or become institutional/business property?
* We have amazing and convenient medical care. How can we balance the expansion needs of the hospitals with encroachment concerns?
* Are there businesses we want to encourage within walking distance of homes?
* Are there conditions we want to assure when the light rail is planned?

Have voice in this process! Come to the meeting or send us your thoughts.
