ANA welcomes places of worship!

Ardmore Neighbor:

On behalf of the Ardmore Neighborhood Association (ANA), I would like introduce myself and inform you of the exciting things taking place in Ardmore. As you may know, Ardmore is commemorating its centennial anniversary this year. With this milestone we hope to celebrate the people, homes and institutions that make this neighborhood so great. The ANA would like to develop relationships with you and your institution as a valuable Ardmore asset. We hope this partnership will not only enhance your community, but the larger Ardmore community, as well.

As the non-profit liaison, I want to offer a friendly hand of welcome and make you aware of the resources that the ANA has to offer that may be helpful to you.

1. Connect with Ardmore neighbors through our List-serve email.
By signing up to receive and send emails, your institution can advertise events to Ardmore residents and you can be made aware of community needs. To receive the most timely neighborhood alerts and communicate with a growing network of neighbors, please consider joining the new community-wide list-serve. Please see the enclosed instructions for joining the list-serve.

2. Utilize the resources available through the ANA.
Our board members can offer a wealth of knowledge that may be helpful to you such as historic preservation, the ANA website, zoning issues, and traffic concerns. We meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in Bob Martin Hall at Ardmore Methodist Church. All are always welcome to attend this meeting. Please join us!

3. Celebrate 100 years with us!
We are excited to celebrate this milestone through special speakers at our monthly meetings, a fall home tour, the publishing of a book about the history of Ardmore and various social events. Since Ardmore would not be the neighborhood it is without you and your institution, we want to include you in the centennial activities.

4. Please see the list of ANA board members, below. If I or any of the board members can help in anyway, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you or a member of your institution to develop a closer relationship with the ANA.

Sincerely,

Sarah C. Hahne

Let’s Tour Ardmore

To celebrate our centennial next year, the Ardmore Neighborhood Association is planning a home tour for Fall 2010, but we need your help…and your homes! Home tours in any historic neighborhood are always popular and it has been quite a while since Ardmore has hosted one of these events. It is fascinating to get a glimpse of the past through its architectural and decorative styles as well as to see how others have interpreted those features and added their own personality for today’s living. For those people that have lovingly (and sometimes bravely!) tackled a home restoration, it can be a source of joy and pride to share their hard work with friends and neighbors. Whatever your interest, we need volunteers to help plan and support this event and gracious neighbors who are willing to open their homes to the public for a few hours.

Meet Your Police Tuesday, March 10 at 7 PM

Please join your neighbors in welcoming Lieutenant Thompson and Sgt. Murphy of the WS Police Department. The meeting will be Tuesday, March 10th at 7 PM at the Ardmore United Methodist Church. They will have a brief presentation explaining the new deployment of officers throughout the city, followed by sharing of questions and concerns. They and fellow officers are assigned to Ardmore permanently.

This is a timely meeting, as unfortunately there has been another incidence of home invasion. The perpetrators were caught immediately due to the vigilance of a neighbor, the tenacity of the resident and rapid police response. The alert from a neighbor points to the need for all of us to call the police if we see suspicious behavior.
