Living in Ardmore, you already know that you live in one of the best neighborhoods in the city: historic homes, beautiful trees, friendly neighbors, shopping and downtown within easy reach. It is so convenient that many in Ardmore are able to walk or bike to work and play. Do you love the convenience of Ardmore? Would you like to enhance our connectivity, walkability and biking opportunities? Then come hear a presentation by Greg Eric, Planning and Development Coordinator for the Winston Salem Transportation Department. Mr. Eric will update us on completed projects and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing us as we improve and adapt our transportation infrastructure to meet the needs of a sustainable future. The presentation will be at 7:00 PM, February 10, 2009 at the Ardmore Methodist Church. Mr. Eric will accept comments and questions at the end of his presentation.

Ronald McDonald House 24th birthday
The Ronald McDonald House has extended an invitation to the neighborhood to join them in a celebration of and for children. We hope you will bring your children and grandchildren to enjoy this fun event! This is also an opportunity for neighbors to view the conceptual rendering of the new extension that the home plans to build. Mrs. Ogburn, the Executive Director of the RMH has asked for neighbors input as they want the exterior to blend in with existing Ardmore architecture. Also, due to the needs of the guests and the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, they are offering the two homes next to the current RMH for removal to other locations. If you have an empty lot or have comments about the plans please reply to sw.eromdrAnull@eromdrA. Mrs. Ogburn emphasizes that final plans have not begun.
I hope to see you Sunday for this celebration,
Lonnie Clark
ANA President
“On Sunday, September 14th at 3:00, the Ronald McDonald House will celebrate its 24th birthday and the conclusion of our capital campaign by having a groundbreaking birthday party. This will be an informal event, with the Winston-Salem Children’s Chorus, a DJ, the Whitaker School cyclists, a giant slide and, of course, cake and ice cream. At 3:45 we will have a brief groundbreaking ceremony with Ronald McDonald, Mayor Allen Joines, and other dignitaries. This will be a very casual event, but is cause for celebration for all who care about sick children and their families. Please extend an invitation to all of our Ardmore neighbors to join us.”
From Anita Ogburn, Executive Director Ronald McDonald House
WFUBMC Emergency Room Expansion
On April 12, 2007, the Ardmore Neighborhood Association hosted a second meeting with representatives from WFUBMC to discuss concerns regarding the Emergency Department / ICU expansion project. Click here to read answers provided by hospital representatives to questions posed by Ardmore residents.
Please forward any other comments or concerns to the ANA at sw.eromdranull@eromdra. The ANA will forward these questions both to NCBH and City of Winston-Salem officials for consideration.
The next formal opportunity to express opinions on this project will be at a series of public hearings that will be required before construction can begin. The ANA will post these dates as they are announced.
Sherry & Chris Wyatt
Many of you know Sherry and Chris Wyatt. Sherry provided the direction for the Ardmore Historic District project and led our volunteer group to do much of the work that was needed and Chris was also very involved in the application process. Sherry and Chris moved from here several years ago so that Chris could take a job at Virginia Tech. For those that may be concerned, Chris is safe, but this is a difficult time for both of them. In addition to the overall impact to those associated with Virgina Tech, Chris had taught classes in the building where the second shooting occured and had close ties with a professor that was killed and another that was wounded.
Whether or not you know the Wyatts, you may have other ties to VT and may want to make a contribution. We will post information as we receive it about any funds that are set up in the aftermath of this tragedy where you can make contributions in honor of the Wyatts or other ties that you may have to the school. Our prayers are with everyone touched by this terrible event.

Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and is expected to take a month. Detours will be set up when the street is closed. The street will be open when crews are not working.
