Minutes for March 14, 2006 Meeting

Present: Jennifer Redd, Patti Heath, Julie Magness, Phyllis Newman, Tom Dalrymple, Brenda Jo Breining, Scott Breining, Bonnie King, Connie Crawford, Pauline Leggatt

Call to Order: 7:40 PM
Minutes from February 2006 were distributed and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Pauline Leggatt
Total funds in bark are $10,177.79 with approximately $4800 yet to be distributed for Historic District markers.
Membership Report: Scott Breining
No change in membership. Currently there are 659 members; 141 are paid through 2006. Scott is working on the database to determine newsletter mailing. Membership Drive postcards will be sent to members who have been expired over two years. We may be able to send an additional “bonus” newsletter, funds permitting.
Newsletter: Jennifer Redd
Pam Fist is sending newsletter PDF to Burklee. Schedule will be as follows: March/April, June/July, September/October, and December/January.
Zoning: Julie Magness
Map of the Historic District has been approved by Tim Grant to be displayed at Miller Park, contingent upon acceptable presentation. Julie is working on the map, adding color and making it as accurate as possible.
St. John’s was granted a rehearing for playground permit. Zoning board requiring a six-foot high privacy fence, however St. John’s can hook onto existing neighbor’s fence.
Julie requested motion to pass on to Zoning Board Adjusters, City Council, and County Commissioner respectfully requesting that ZBA agendas be posted on the website. Julie motioned, Jennifer seconded, passed by all.

Winston-Salem Citywide Neighborhood Conference will be hosting the following workshops:

Crime Report: Julie Magness
Scott Sexton and Dan Galindo, Winston-Salem journal reporters, have agreed to be contacts for anyone interested in supporting our effort to get crime reports into the newspaper.
WSNA Report: Julie Magness
Julie forwards their minutes to this board via email. The biggest hot button concerns realignment of Queen Street, and NCO.
Historic District: Patti Heath
The Historic District signs will begin in March, weather permitting.

Patti requested ideas for links and bulleting board posts. She also feels the website should be neighborhood interactive. She is currently adding photos to the site.
Welcome Committee: Bonnie King
Bonnie requested input for Welcome Packs, which are currently being updated.
Garden Club Committee: Jennifer Redd
There will be a Garden Club meeting on Thursday, March 30th at 8:0pm at Jennifer’s home.
New Business:
Jennifer has suggested that the ANA have a slogan. There was discussion of possibly putting it on a window sticker.
The ANA board has been invited to the Heritage Award ceremony being held on May 2nd at the Welcome Center in Old Salem.
